Story
Prelude
"Unusual noises"
Strange rumblings and unusual noises have been coming from Hildebrant's cellar as of late. What lies beneath the cellar and beyond?
"Forest path"
“ | While doing some spring cleaning I heard some unusual noises coming from my cellar. Could you go investigate it? Before you descend, help yourself to anything you fancy from my yardsale. For a small fee of course. Also, while you're down there, can you bring me back a bottle of my special Reserve? The last group I asked never returned and I could use a drink while I go over the dock worker ledgers. | „ | |

Core mechanics
The Inferno is the infinite series of dungeon rooms that lie deep below Hildebrant's Cellar. Once a character has reached and defeated all enemies on floor 9 of Hildebrant's cellar, they will find themselves descending into the Inferno. This series of dungeon floors is, to date, infinite. Players face a variety of enemies and the usual dungeon traps, and will occasionally find treasure chests. Goblin merchants will also sometimes appear and are the only way to restock on supplies using gold during a cellar dive; otherwise players are forced to rely on the random loot drops they can find while exploring the dungeon.
Strategy
A typically strong strategy to an "infinite" Hildebrant's Cellar run is to make use of the Reset and Party Rush abilities, allowing party members to ensure an almost constant barrage of damage with little to no worry of taking any themselves. This lets the party stockpile Godsbeard for emergencies, and accumulate gold for better equipment upgrades when visiting a merchant.
Another strategy, though perhaps less viable in a party-based composition, is to stack a character's Evasion stat. Using a solo Hunter character, it is feasible to raise their evasion to 100% using a variety of gear and status effects, thus making it almost impossible to take damage during combat.
There is a guide available that further details the most effective use of these strategies for any players wishing to learn more.
Rewards
There are a numerous Lore Store unlocks rewarded to players who successfully descend through Hildebrant's Cellar and into the Inferno. There are currently no rewards for descending beyond the ninth floor.

Notable locations
There is a goblin merchant's stall that characters will initially visit prior to entering the Cellar. This gives players an opportunity to use their initial reserve of 60 to prepare for their descent, stocking up on any gear or supplies they feel they may need to face the perils below.
A goblin merchant will also spawn at the end of each floor, allowing adventurers to restock or pick up additional supplies.
Notable enemies
A Scourge will appear on every third floor, repeating in the same order infinitely. Players should plan accordingly.
