Status Effects (Buffs, Debuffs, Displacements, and Ailments) are temporary modifiers that have correspondingly negative or positive consequences.

Overview

Status Effects are applied through abilities, certain weapons, or when attacked by unique creatures. They vary in longevity and effect, although most will only last as long as a single battle.

Depending on the effect, the duration will be one of the following (not including conditions that end the effect early):

Short: Lasts until the end of the afflicted character's second turn with the ailment.
Fight: Once applied, it will last until the end of the fight.
Persistent: Once applied, it will last until cured.
Unique: Has unique mechanics unlike other effects.

The turn timeline also indicates the exact damage and duration a status effect will last for.

Removing Debuffs and Ailments

Debuffs afflicted on a player character can be removed with the use of a Herb Panax FTK2.pngPanax or an action with Ability Cure FTK2.pngCure. Status Curse FTK2.pngCurses are unique in that they can only be removed with a use of a Herb Hags Bane FTK2.pngHag's Bane or by using the Priest service at a Town for a fee.

Additionally both debuffs and curses can be cured using actions that grant Status Purify FTK2.pngPurify such as consuming Herb Aralia FTK2.pngAralia or a Drink SlipperyNibbler FTK2.pngSlippery Nibbler.

Immunities

Various creatures are immune to certain Status Effects. In terms of player involvement, specific equipment, items, and Sanctums will grant differing immunities to their user. Certain classes or creatures also share their own thematic immunities (i.e. Skeletons resisting Status Bleed Immune FTK2.pngBleeding). Creatures such as Wraiths and Scary Ghosts possess Status All Immune FTK2.pngAll Immunities.

Destroys an equipped item every 2 rounds for 4 rounds. Some exceptions apply, see notes.

Armor Down Short Negative
Reduces the targets Status Armor FTK2.pngArmor for 2 rounds.
Slot ArmorUp Success FTK2.png
Armor Up Short Positive
Increases the targets Status Armor FTK2.pngArmor for 2 rounds.

Attack Down Short Negative
Reduces the targets Status Attack FTK2.pngAttack for 2 rounds.

Bleed Unique Negative
Inflicts heavy Damage every 2 rounds for 4 rounds.

Confuse Short Negative
Causes the target to make a random decision for 2 rounds. This can include usage of consumables.

Decrease a random stat by -25.

Renders the target unable to use Secondary Actions for 1 turn.

Applies a mark on the target and triggers Death upon expiring after 4 rounds.

Entangle Short Negative
Prevents Movement and Melee abilites for 2 rounds.

Imbues the body with fire causing attacks to apply Status Fire FTK2.pngIgnite on damage. Also removes Status Fire FTK2.pngIgnite and gives temporary Status Fire Immune FTK2.pngBurn Immunity. Removed at the end of combat.

Causes the target to take more than 25% more Damage from attacks for 3 rounds.
Slot Grab Success FTK2.png
Grab Unique Negative
Unable to take any action for 2 rounds or until freed by an ally.
Status Imbue Ice FTK2.png
Ice Imbued Unique Positive
Imbues the body with ice causing attacks to apply Status Ice FTK2.pngFreeze on damage. Also removes Status Ice FTK2.pngFreeze and gives temporary Status Ice Immune FTK2.pngFreeze Immunity. Removed at the end of combat.

Ignite Unique Negative
Inflicts Damage every round for 3 rounds.
Status Imbue Shock FTK2.png
Lightning Imbued Unique Positive
Imbues the body with lightning causing attacks to apply Status Shock FTK2.pngShock on damage. Also removes Status Shock FTK2.pngShock and gives temporary Status Shock Immune FTK2.pngShock Immunity. Removed at the end of combat.
Magic Channel Unique Positive
Increases the damage of the next Magic Attack stacking up to 2 times. The multiplier is equal to +135% of base damage on the first stack and +400% on the second stack.
This effect disappears upon being affected with control effects.
Slot Poison Success FTK2.png
Poison Persistent* Negative
Decreases most stats by 10, prevents most skills from activating, inflicts 2 Damage, and disables HP regeneration after every turn on the Overworld and each Dungeon room for 3 rounds/room.
Slot Protect Success FTK2.png
Protect Unique Positive
Prevents the next attack from applying any Damage and/or Status Effects for 5 rounds.
Slot Cleanse Success FTK2.png
Purify Unique Positive
Removes and protects from negative Status Effects for 3 rounds.
Slot Reflect Success FTK2.png
Reflect Short Positive
Inflicts half of the Damage taken back to the attacker once for 2 rounds. Effect is removed after hit.
Status ResistDeath FTK2.png
Resist Death Unique Positive
Protects from Death for 3 rounds.
Slot ResistDown Success FTK2.png
Resist Down Short Negative
Decrease Status Resist FTK2.pngResistance for 2 rounds.
Slot ResistUp Success FTK2.png
Resist Up Short Positive
Increase Status Resist FTK2.pngResistance for 2 rounds.
Slot Scare Success FTK2.png
Scare Unique Negative
Causes target to attempt Fleeing for 2 rounds.
Slot Shock Success FTK2.png
Shock Short Negative
Unless Game FocusIcon FTK2.pngFocus is used, guarantees the first slot roll of an ability is failed for 2 rounds.
Status StatsUp FTK2.png
Stats Up Unique Positive
Increases all stats for the remainder of the combat.
Slot Stun Success FTK2.png
Stun Unique Negative
Renders the target unable to act for 1 round.
Slot Taunt Success FTK2.png
Taunt Short Positive
Forces enemies to concentrate their attacks on the target for 2 rounds.
Slot Water Success FTK2.png
Wet Unique Negative
Disables all Immunities for 3 rounds
Status Imbue Wet FTK2.png
Water Imbued Unique Positive
Imbues the body with water causing attacks to apply Status Wet FTK2.pngWet on damage. Also removes Status Wet FTK2.pngWet and gives temporary Status Wet Immune FTK2.pngWet Immunity. Removed at the end of combat.

Notes

  • There are some events and cases where Status Acid FTK2.pngAcid can destroy an equipped item upon receiving the effect. One known case includes stepping on an Status Acid FTK2.pngAcid tile in the overworld.
