Ambush is a basic character skill in the game For The King.
Description
Will test Awareness to isolate the enemy and gain a free attack.
Effects
Ambush is an active skill that allows a character to attempt to gain an attack round advantage when initiating combat against an enemy in the Overworld. This includes camps and swarms.
Stat check
A character's 
awareness will be tested when rolling to pass the required stat check.
Failing the Ambush
A failed ambush results in the enemy winning initiative and getting a free attack in the ensuing combat. Any focus points used for the stat check are lost.
Enemy ambushes
Unseen enemies are also quite capable of ambushing party members while they move about the map. Equipping an item with ambush immunity or using the counter attack skill can assist greatly in this regard.
Additionally, mimics will disguise themselves as treasure chests in an effort to ambush unsuspecting seekers of fortune.
